INSIDE/OUT: Lawrence Jokun-Fearon

Our latest campaign #STATEYOURSTYLE has been the talk of the town recently, purely because it celebrates all kinds of personalities, from different backgrounds with different skills and interests. It has become a platform for all styles and worlds to come together, bringing fashion, street and sportswear to you all at once. Here's a little insight into pro skater Lawrence and how he ties in his passion for skateboarding with fashion.

Lawrence Jokun-Fearon

Age: 21

Occupation/Studies: Skateboarder

How long have you been skating for?
10 years

What does a typical day in your life involve?
Gym and skateboarding

How long have you lived in the Middle East?
11 years

Which are your 3 favourite places in the city?
Downtown, City Walk and Palm

How do skating and fashion go hand in hand?
For the longest fashion brands have tried mimic how skateboarders dress, create something and then go put a high price tag on what they've created. Skateboarding isn't about that, it's about individuality. Keep fashion, fashion and skateboarding, skateboarding.

How do you portray your personality through your clothes?
Skateboarding is my passion, it's part of who I am. Whether I'm skating or not, I'm always wearing a piece of clothing that is related to skateboarding.

If you were to pick 3 favourite pieces from your wardrobe, what would they be?
G-Star Raw Jeans, adidas sweater and most definitely a vest.

Describe your style in 3 words?
Fresh, fly, flashy

Which brands are your go-to?
G-Star Raw and adidas

Where do you and your friends find inspiration in the city, fashion or otherwise?
I can't really talk for my friends but when I need a little bit of inspiration I take a cruise around the city during night time. I don't know what it is about Dubai during the night time but it just clicks something in my brain and it just makes me feel like whatever I want in this world I can go get it.

How does living in the Middle East enable you to express your individuality?
Easy. Nowadays everybody enjoys dressing the same or dressing like a homeless person. Do the complete opposite.

How did it feel to be a part of the #STATEYOURSTYLE campaign?
Being apart of the SYS campaign was great, it was probably the most fun I've had on a shoot. Everyone was real cool and would definitely work with the same group again.
